I read some of the reviews concerning the Toshiba Canvio and wonder if their computers were not compatible with this device. The computer I use with this device is also a Toshiba, which may also explain my results. I have mostly positive experiences with this external hard drive.
I received the "Toshiba Canvio Plus 500 GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive" and immediately started to use it. I noticed that the box contained no directions, however I did not need instructions. The hard drive comes with a cord with two different plugs. The plugs are very different - one fits in the hard drive and the other fits only in my USB port. As soon as I plugged it in it came to life and started giving me specific instructions. I followed directions and the software to use the hard drive as a backup for my data set it up for me.
The "Toshiba Canvio Plus 500 GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive" is quiet and fast. It backed up all my software and data in just a few minutes.
I recommend the "Toshiba Canvio Plus 500 GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive".
