Customer Review: Nice camera if it actually worked.

I ordered one of these and couldn't wait to get it. When it arrived, I used it and filmed a few short videos and watched them on my 40" HDTV and the quality was great. A few hours later I filmed some more short test films and then noticed small colored dots all over the screen. I thought this was maybe just an error from the hook up with the mini HDMI cable but then I also noticed them on the screen on the camera and when the videos were uploaded to my PC. I sent the camera back to Amazon for a replacement camera thinking that the camera was just a defect. The returns department at Amazon is great and I had a new camera in less than 48 hours. I opened this one with hopes that I wouldnt have any more problems. I took it to a friends house that was having people over to watch football. I filmed 4 or 5 short videos (longest was probably 3 minutes). I watched the videos on the camcorders screen and there were no color dots this time! A few hours later I filmed a couple more short videos of friends. I went to watch the videos on the screen of the camcorder like I did earlier and the speaker was making these horrible distorted noises. I thought maybe I had my finger over the mic or something but later figured out I did nothing wrong and that the speaker on the camera was at fault. The videos played fine after being up loaded to my computer and the sound was fine but the speaker on the camera was still making the noises when playing back on the camera. So in less than a week, I was returning my second camera and this time I wasn't up for a replacement. Its a shame because the camera would be great and I would probably rate it at 4 stars if I didnt break in one way or another after a few hours of use. I would not recommend this camera to anyone because I would fear that some new defect would come into play. Im just glad this happend within the 30 day return policy. Amazon has been great with the return and Im waiting on my refund that I just placed yesterday. Thank goodness that Amazon has such a great returns department. I will be buying another camcorder from Amazon, but I can assure you it wont be this one. If you are thinking about buying this camera, it takes great videos but don't be surprised if it doesn't work in some way within the first week.
